Volunteer with Hawkinge Community Fridge

We are always happy to welcome new volunteers!

You don't need any special skills — just a food hygiene certificate level2 - which we will pay for you to train for, a friendly attitude and a willingness to help.

Tasks include:

  • Collecting surplus food from local retailers

  • Sorting and setting up food on Sunday mornings

  • Welcoming visitors at the fridge and assisting them

  • Helping pack away, clean and tidy up

You can volunteer as little or as often as suits you.

If you'd like to help, please get in touch using the contact details below.

We have an app that helps you see when volunteer slots are available, and you get email reminders a few days before your sessions.  There's a WhatsApp group for easy communication. Your usual hours, when scheduled, will be from 10am to 2pm. You do not have set working hours, nor do you have minimum volunteer time. However, to maximise the benefits for you and us, we hope that you can volunteer for 4 hours on a Sunday, and if you wish you can be involved on collecting and receiving food from local sources. This can be once a month or more - whatever works for you.

If this sounds like something you'd like to do, and you live in or near the Hawkinge, Kent CT18 area, please download the Volunteer Job Description - link below.  Fill in your details in our online form below and we will be in touch with you.  We regret that we can't accept applications from other parts of the country or other countries.
